What's the process for hiring a freelance Web photographer?
Most freelance Web photography jobs are straightforward. We set up a time to visit your business, and show up with our gear. For portraits, we might position you or your staff against the most compelling visual backdrops inside or outside your business. For product shots, we use a "lightbox".
A lightbox is a large white "tent" that we wrap around your product so that there is no clutter in the image. The flash is positioned to diffuse light, so there are no shadows in the shot. This produces clean images that are perfect for online or print product catalogs.
Photo illustrations work differently. In photo illustrations, we strive to present your company's main product in a creative or inventive way. This might require taking your product off-site to photograph it against unusual backdrops.
For instance, your best-selling product might be a watch. We could take it to a local pool or lake to photograph it underwater on the wrist of a snorkler. If you sell sails for boats, we might ask you to take us on a sailing trip so that we can photograph your sails in action. The possibilities are endless, and we'll work with you to come up with an idea that's visually compelling.
How much will it cost me to hire a freelance Web photographer?
Photo editing, drive time, and the time we spend shooting your photographs will all be billed under the hourly rate. If we're only shooting a small number of photographs, photo editing time will be minimal. Drive time will also require a mileage fee (.39 cents per mile).
To prevent theft of our work, we'll first deliver our Web photographs with a watermark. We'll remove the watermark after payment has been received. For first-time customers, one hour must be paid for up front before the photo shooting session. The average bill for a small business freelance Web photography is $200 to $300 for 25 to 50+ photographs (excluding photo illustrations which can be more time consuming).
