FAQs on Postcard Design and Printing at Centerville Web Design
Why do I need professional postcard design?
When done effectively, postcard designs have the power to drive business to your location, Web site, or service. Not only can you target them at a specific audience, but you can even tailor your message to different communities. Postcards are especially effective when sent with or as a coupon. Not only do they encourage existing customers to return to your store, they can generate new customers to come in for the first time.
When should I advertise with postcards?
Postcards are most effective when used to advertise sales or to offer discounts. If you have a mailing list, you can target your campaign at existing customers, or you can target specific communities that might be interested but unaware of your product. Flat postcard designs that do not give potential clients a reason to contact you will be ineffective. Most importantly, advertise when you've got something worth advertising. A large sale, for instance, or a special event works well with postcard advertising.
Better yet, offer the consumer a "special" deal -- one that they can ONLY get with the postcard. It'll give them strong incentive to hold onto the card (which means they'll be likely to see it again). If you go with that route, however, make sure that you don't offer the same deal somewhere else, in a newspaper, for instance, or on your Web site.
What should my postcard design look like?
Postcard designs should prominently advertise discounts or savings for a consumer. If you're including coupons on your postcard design, make them large and readable. Emphasize the discount, but be sure to tell the consumer how much money they're going to save. For instance, if you run a body shop, and you're offering $12 oil changes, be sure to list the regular price below the discount so that people can see for themselves how much money they're saving. Even better than sale announcements, tell the postcard holder that they can ONLY get the discount with the postcard. That'll encourage them to hold onto your postcard.
After considering the value that your postcard is offering the consumer, you've got to create a compelling postcard design that catches the eye. The best way to do that is with powerful images related to your product or service. In the case of postcards (and the Internet), it's true that images speak louder than words.
What should I avoid in my postcard design?
One common mistake we see in postcard design is an overt emphasis on just one side of the postcard. One side is glossy with large text and a beautiful photograph. It's an eyecatching and well-designed posstcard. Then -- when you flip the card over -- it's got a dull matte finish with a small coupon, tiny text and no images.
If potential clients look first at the dull and unimpressive side of your postcard design, they could easily toss it in the trash without flipping the postcard over. So be sure to take the design on both sides of the postcard into account.
Do you offer any special printing effects in your postcard design?
Certainly. We offer the following enhancements:
• Perforations: We'll create an easy way for customers to tear their coupon off your postcard with perforations.
• Rounded Corners: Die-cut corners with a variable radius of your choosing.
• 4-color Printing: Make sure your postcard stands out on both sides (so you can ensure you maximize your first impression).
• Shrink Wrapping: Let us wrap shrink wrap your postcards in bundle sizes that you choose so you can safely ship them to different locations.
Note: Custom printing effects will be quoted on a job-by-job basis.
