FAQs on Small Business
Web Site Design

What do you need from me?

Content and photographs (if available), as well as a rough idea of Web site design style you'd like.

As we design your site, we'll send you regular updates on our progress, and work your advice and comments into the design until the site's publication date.

If you don't already have a domain name, we'd be happy to offer you advice before you select it. Centerville Web Design will buy your domain for you, and host your site free for one year.

Where do you design web sites?

Centerville Web Design is based in Centerville, Ohio (Montgomery County), just south of Dayton. We travel to a number of locations for face-to-face consultations, including Springboro, Cincinnati, Covington, Springfield, Troy, Piqua, Columbus, Dublin, Westerville, Reynoldsburg and Grove City. That said, we design Web sites for a worldwide clientele.

How long will it take you to design and publish my Web site?

The depends on the complexity of your Web site design and the work you'd like us to do, but most small business Web sites are completed in seven business days or less.

What do you recommend that I include in my Web site design?

There aren't any rules that are set in stone, but most users expect the following in Web site design:

•   A home page that introduces users to your product and services.
•   A navigation bar that flows horizontally across the top of the page or vertically on either side. Include what will likely be your site's most-visited Web site pages.
•   A copyright notice at the bottom of each page, and, optionally, a link to your site map.
•   Your phone number. Even if you a client doesn't call, they'll be reassured by the fact that you're including your phone number on your site.
•   An About Us page that explains your history, identifies the business' owner(s), and, perhaps, your company's staff. It's easy to be anonymous on the Web, and that means users are more likely to go with companies that don't hide who they are.
•   A "Frequently Asked Questions" or "FAQ" page that answers the questions your potential clients are most likely to ask.
•   A "Contact" page that includes your phone number, your address, and a Web form, so that users aren't forced to open their email accounts to send you a message. Online forms can be configured to email you (and your coworkers) all the information that users submit, and these emails are sent in real time.
•   Lots of high-quality images. Images speak louder than words, and they engage users -- making it more likely that they'll spend time on your site.

How long will it take visitors to start finding my site?

Different search engines operate on different timetables. In our experience, Google indexes the fastest, and it's likely to be the most dominant source of traffic for you. Yahoo could take up to two weeks to index your Web site after the site's publication.

I've already got an existing Web site that I'd like redesigned. Will I be billed at the same price?

We'll likely give you a discount to redesign your existing web site. Billing, however, is determined on a case-by-case basis. If you'd like a free quote, visit our contact page or use the form (at the bottom of this page). Be sure to include your current URL and an idea of the changes you'd like to make.

OK. You've sold me on your small business web design services. How can I contact you?

We were hoping you'd ask. Feel free to call us at
